The volume of commercial fish production has increased in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Since the beginning of 2025, 270 tons of commercial aquaculture products have been produced in the Nizhny Novgorod region: 111 tons of marketable fish and 159 tons of fish fry. This is 140 tons more compared to the same period last year (28 and 102 tons respectively). These figures were reported by the regional Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife Protection.
"Entrepreneurs operating in the aquaculture sector in the Nizhny Novgorod region continue to demonstrate confident growth. The increase in commercial aquaculture volumes not only contributes to the strengthening of the agro-industrial complex and ensures food security in the region, but also creates sustainable conditions for long-term economic growth, as well as increases the investment attractiveness of the industry," said Roman Vorobyov, Minister of Forestry and Wildlife Protection.
The minister added that the leader in product production in the region is LLC "Fisheries Farm 'Polderovsky'," which received over 90 tons of fish fry. LLC "Sfera" showed good results — in the second quarter, the enterprise produced 36 tons of fish fry and 48 tons of marketable fish. LLC "Fisheries Farm 'Veletyma'" also demonstrates good pace, having grown 43 tons of marketable fish.
The department noted that the main component of commercial aquaculture is carp — 96% of the total production volume.
It is also mentioned that currently, the ministry is working on approving the procedures and forms for maintaining the Register of Fish Breeding Facilities in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This work aims to define the main development directions for commercial aquaculture (fish farming) products and to increase the volume of commercial aquaculture production in the region. Additionally, based on data provided by the fish farms, monitoring of the production and sales volumes of commercial aquaculture products will be carried out.
