Society On July 21, in Arzamas, as part of the social project "Healthy Smile of Special Children. Health Train," a mobile dental clinic was operational. Thirty young patients with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder visited the specialists, and 12 children received assistance directly aboard the "Health Train."

The specialists not only performed examinations and dental procedures for children with health limitations but also paid attention to working with their parents. Doctors provided detailed answers to all mothers' and fathers' questions, gave individual recommendations on preparing children for dental examinations, and shared techniques to reduce anxiety in patients with ASD.

The project was initiated by the Regional Dental Clinic, the Nizhny Novgorod Dental Association, the Regional Center for Social Development, and the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Public Chamber.

"Our mobile unit is equipped with a modern dental installation, fully furnished, including a professional oral hygiene device. There is also a mobile X-ray unit and necessary sterilization equipment. If more serious interventions are required, we will direct the children to our branches for outpatient assistance or, if needed, to the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital," explained Anatoly Sidorin, chief physician of the Regional Dental Clinic.

According to the medical facility's head, specially trained specialists work with the children within the framework of the project. These medical professionals understand all the nuances of working with young patients with special needs. Before the project launched, these specialists underwent additional training at the Privolzhsky Research Medical University, where they practiced specific algorithms for working with such patients.

"The project will continue in other cities across our region—next stops will be Pavlovo, Lukoyanov, Volodarsk, and Kstovo," said Anatoly Sidorin.

The "Health Train" project has been implemented since 2018 on the initiative of the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin. The operation of mobile diagnostic complexes helps achieve the goals and objectives outlined in the new national project "Long and Active Life."

The "Long and Active Life" national project launched nationwide in 2025 upon orders from Russian President Vladimir Putin. It aims to increase life expectancy by 2030 and involves updating clinics, outpatient facilities, and feldsher-midwife stations, attracting more qualified medical personnel, applying new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical service and rehabilitation systems, developing a network of national research centers, and digitalizing the industry. The national project includes 11 federal initiatives: "Health for Everyone," "Modernization of Primary Healthcare," "Medical Personnel," "Combating Cardiovascular Diseases," "Fighting Oncology," "Fighting Diabetes," "Hepatitis Prevention and Risk Minimization," "Enhancing Emergency Medical Assistance," "Development of Federal Medical Organizations, including the expansion of the network of national research centers," "National Platform 'Health'," and "Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Recovery."
