The "Night of the Biennale" event (6+), held on July 19 in Nizhny Novgorod, attracted over 11,500 visitors in six hours.
"The Night of the Biennale is a special event that we prepared for and awaited eagerly. I was glad to see large groups at the entrance — more than 11,500 people visited the exhibitions in one evening. This shows that the topic of ecological art truly concerns and resonates with people," noted Oleg Berkovich, Deputy Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The most attention from visitors was drawn to the Volga-Vyatka branch of the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin (Arsenal), which showcased two major exhibitions: "Earthly/Planetary," dedicated to environmental challenges in a global and local context, and "Dreams of Home," exploring the image of home as a cultural foundation of human civilization from ancient times to the present day.
Visitors also had the opportunity to view the "Bee Zone" exposition at the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum, "Digital Hopes" at the multimedia space CEX, a special project "Clean Energy" at the "Mayak" Academy named after A.D. Sakharov, as well as the central Biennale exhibition — "Skin of the Earth."
"Skin of the Earth" was located on two sites — at the Mytniy Market building and at the Yermolayevs' Hotel. The exhibition is dedicated to the planet's delicate shell, which the authors compare to skin, and its significance for life on Earth. Over 250 works by 70 artists from 35 countries participate in the exhibition.
The program was complemented by "Solo at Sunset" — street musical performances at key exhibition sites: in the courtyard of the Arsenal, near the Yermolayevs' Hotel, and at the entrance to Mytniy Market from Bolshaya Pokrovskaya.
It was previously reported that the participants of the biennale talked about their works featured in "Skin of the Earth."
