At the intersection of Belinskogo and Kulibina streets in Nizhny Novgorod, work on the complete replacement of tram tracks has been completed. From July 21, all restrictions for vehicle movement on this section have been lifted. This was reported by the company "Environmental Projects," which was responsible for the reconstruction.
The renovation began in early May and marked the final stage of updating the tram track along the entire Belinskogo Street. The rails on this section are now laid using modern technology with the application of an anti-vibration pad, significantly reducing noise and vibrations from passing vehicles.
In addition to replacing the rails and contact network, the contractor carried out asphalt paving of the roadway. As noted by Evgeny Grabovsky, director of LLC "Environmental Projects," the intersection was built back in 1948, and the last major overhaul was carried out in 1999. According to him, the renovation was necessary because this junction plays a key role in the city’s transportation system.
"We aimed to minimize inconvenience for drivers and ensure smooth traffic after the work was completed. Thanks to the use of modern technologies, we were able not only to improve road conditions but also to reduce the impact on nearby buildings," emphasized Grabovsky.
Vladimir Soldatenkov, chairman of the Transport and Road Economy Committee of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Legislative Assembly, added that the contractor used high-quality materials and modern solutions, and that authorities will continue monitoring the condition of the tram infrastructure in the city.
State Duma deputy of Nizhny Novgorod, Mark Feldman, noted that the completion of the reconstruction is the result of effective cooperation among all project participants. "We have received upgraded tracks, reduced noise and vibration levels, and more comfortable public transportation movement. Developing the tram network is an important step toward environmentally friendly and accessible transportation for residents," he stated.
It was previously reported that 14 "smart" stops will appear on tram routes in Nizhny Novgorod.
Recall that on July 21, large-scale repairs of tram tracks began on Oshtorskaya Street in Nizhny Novgorod.
