Nizhny Novgorod Region ranked 65th among Russian regions in terms of mortgage lending development in 2025. These data are provided by TASS.
Analysts evaluated the activity of mortgage issuance by comparing the number of loans to the economically active population. In Nizhny Novgorod Region, there were 10.9 mortgages per thousand residents. This is 53.2% lower compared to the same period in 2024.
The average size of a mortgage loan in the region was 3.99 million rubles. The share of overdue mortgage payments as of early June reached 0.46%.
The leader of the ranking was the Republic of Tuva, where 51.5 mortgages were issued per thousand people — the highest among all Russian federal subjects.
A decline in mortgage demand is observed nationwide. From January to May 2025, about 272,000 mortgage loans were issued in Russia, compared to 560,000 during the same period in 2024. Thus, the decline was 51%.
Experts associate the downturn with the tightening of the Central Bank's monetary policy, reduction of preferential programs, and rising housing prices.
The average size of a mortgage across Russia reached 4.38 million rubles. For comparison, six years ago, it was just over 2 million.
It was previously reported that preferential mortgages at 2% are planned to be given to families of participants in the SVO.
