The Central District Library of the Autzavodsky District is preparing to open a traveling exhibition titled "Home Front Heroes. Pages of Remembrance" (12+). The exhibit is dedicated to the selfless work of residents of the Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod) region during the Great Patriotic War.
The opening will take place on July 24 at 14:00 at the Library and Recreation Center located at Prospekt Molodezhny, 44b. The project was initiated by the NOIC media group and the Centralized Library System of the Autzavodsky District.
The central feature of the exhibition will be a collection of more than 50 photo reproductions of pages from the newspaper "Gorkovskaya Communal," published from 1941 to 1945. These materials reflect life in the rear, factory work, and daily life of rural residents during wartime.
A unique aspect of the exhibit is the use of augmented reality technology. Each layout is equipped with AR markers: by pointing a smartphone camera at the image, visitors can view archival video footage, hear voices of eyewitnesses, and experience the atmosphere of the era.
Additionally, the exhibition will feature original items found by the "Kurgan" search team at battle sites. Among the exhibits are military uniform details, personal belongings of soldiers, and documents bearing traces of history.
On the opening day, there will be a meeting with Yulia Polyakova, a columnist for the newspaper "Nizhny Novgorod Truth," and historian Stanislav Smirnov, chairman of the "Otechina" historical society. Guests will have the opportunity to discuss topics such as memory preservation, archival work, and studying regional heroes' biographies.
The exhibition will be open until August 3. Admission is free.
The project is supported by the "Creative Practices Team."
