On July 14, 2025, at 09:23 [151], an incident occurred. In the village of Chernukha, located in the Arzamas urban district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, a laboratory-confirmed case of rabies was reported in a dog. This was announced by the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor management for the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Republic of Mari El. The diagnosis was confirmed on July 10, 2025, following tests of the dog’s brain tissue conducted at the regional veterinary laboratory. In response to the detection of the disease, a set of restrictive measures implemented by the state veterinary service is in effect within the territory. These measures aim to localize and eliminate the infection source in accordance with the veterinary rules approved by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. The regional administration reminds residents of Nizhny Novgorod that, in the event of an animal bite, the animal's owner must within 12 hours deliver it to the designated veterinary organization for examination and subsequent isolated observation by specialists for 10 days.
