Incidents A resident of Dzerzhinsk became a victim of fraudsters after trying to arrange a movie date with a new online acquaintance. The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported this.

A 41-year-old man met a girl on a dating website. After a brief chat, she suggested meeting at a cinema and sent a link to purchase tickets. The man clicked on the provided link, not suspecting that the website was fake.

After entering his bank card details, he was contacted by an unknown person claiming to be a support service employee and informed about payment issues. Under the pretext of resolving the problem, the attacker directed the man to a series of fake sites, through which the scammers withdrew 320,000 rubles from his account.

When contact with the "girl" and "support service" was lost, the victim realized he had been deceived and reported the incident to the police.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Police officers are conducting investigative activities aimed at identifying and detaining the suspects.

Law enforcement reminds: when making online payments, it is important to verify the authenticity of websites and not to share bank card details with third parties. In suspicious situations, it is necessary to contact the police immediately at 02 or 102.

Earlier reports indicated that scammers stole nearly 3 million rubles from a Nizhny Novgorod resident under the pretense of selling a car. NIAN "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel. Subscribe to stay informed about major events, exclusive materials, and operative information.
