The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, has personally taken control of the investigation into a criminal case related to the violation of the rights of orphaned children in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the press service of the agency.
The reason for the intervention of the head of the agency was reports on social networks and media outlets about the inadequate condition of the houses built in the city of Shakhunya for children left without parental care. The premises were found to be uninsulated, resulting in lowered temperatures in the rooms during winter. Additionally, there are reports of numerous other violations committed by the developer during the construction of residential buildings.
In connection with this, investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region have initiated a criminal case under the article on exceeding official powers.
Bastrykin ordered Acting Head of the Regional Department Alexander Dynkov to prepare and submit a detailed report on the progress of the investigation and all identified circumstances.
The investigation is under the control of the central office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
It was previously reported that Bastrykin had instructed to report on possible violations of the rights of residents of an old house in the center of Nizhny Novgorod.
