Society Over 350 industrial tourists visited the United Metallurgical Company (UMK) plant as part of the "Vyksa Festival," which took place from July 4 to 6 in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Visitors not only had the opportunity to see modern production processes but also to participate as spectators in festival events held directly on the plant grounds: a mini-concert by the rock band "Dайте танк (!)" and the creation of the mural "Temple of Labor."

Guests from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and its region, as well as from Samara, Tomsk, Vladivostok, Belgorod, Udmurtia, and Tatarstan, immersed themselves in the atmosphere of advanced manufacturing and contemporary art.

The "Factory Seen" project offers guided tours that include visits to Russia’s first industrial street art park, where murals by modern artists decorate the facades of factory buildings, reflecting the unique character of the city and the enterprise.

Tourists observed the creation of the new mural "Temple of Labor" and personally interacted with its author — Yekaterinburg artist Andrey Kolokolov.

One of the tour participants, Anna Morozova from Moscow, shared that it was her first visit to Vykza and she was greatly impressed. She particularly enjoyed her meeting with the artist and the chance to see how the mural was created.

"The scale is impressive, the capacities are astounding! I especially liked the steelmaking process; I have never seen anything like it. The guides presented very complex information very clearly. It’s great that I could combine my trip to the "Vyksa Festival" with a visit to the plant — I really got a full Vykza experience," said Anna.

A special tour for families with children called "All About Science. The Moon Pipeline" was organized. During this program, guests learned about the work of scientists and engineers working in UMK's research laboratories to develop new types of products.

Each participant received a souvenir gift: a traditional metallographic sample and a keychain, as well as a tote bag with the inscription "Stronger than Steel." This phrase references the mural of the same name created at the plant last year.

Larisa Malofeeva, the industrial tourism manager at the Vykza UMK plant, noted that over the three-day festival, 16 excursions were held with the participation of 357 people.

"It’s encouraging that some tourists had visited us last year and returned to explore new routes. Over the past two years, we have seen steady growth in interest in industrial tours—not only during the 'Vyksa Festival' but throughout the year. In 2024 alone, the plant was visited by more than 4,000 people. Many come in family groups. We see this as an opportunity to introduce the younger generation to the work of engineers and workers and to help young people choose their future professions," added Malofeeva.

It was previously reported that UMK created a city website about Vykza, showcasing the life and development of the urban district.
