Incidents: A high-profile corruption case has concluded in Nizhny Novgorod. Three former employees of the Research Institute and two businessmen have been found guilty of a multi-year bribery scheme. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to investigators, from 2016 to 2022, institute employees regularly received money from representatives of commercial companies. In exchange for bribes, they provided confidential information that helped the companies win tenders conducted by the institution.
The total amount of illegal payments exceeded 2 million rubles. The money was transferred systematically, and the scheme operated with the collusion of officials and entrepreneurs.
The court recognized the former institute employees as guilty of accepting bribes as part of an organized group, and the company leaders as guilty of giving bribes by prior agreement.
As a result, all five received suspended sentences ranging from 4 to 7.5 years. Each was fined between 1.7 and 2.6 million rubles.
Earlier, it was reported that a Nizhny Novgorod alcohol company was fined half a million rubles for bribery.
