From July 9 to 18, the Knyagininsky municipal district is hosting the summer school "Immersion in AgroTech" at the Nizhny Novgorod State Engineering and Economics University. This is a nationwide educational program that allows school students to learn about the agricultural profession and broaden their horizons. This year, 50 children from 14 regions of the country are participating in the camp session, with eight students representing the Nizhny Novgorod region. All participants are students from rural schools, agro-schools, and agro-classes, as well as children of participants in the special military operation.

The organizers of the agro-camp are the Russian Union of Rural Youth (RUSYM) and Knyagininsky University. The session is supported by the regional Ministry of Education and Science and JSC "Rosselkhozbank." The thematic activities aim to increase youth interest in agricultural professions and to shape a modern image of rural areas. The global goal of the initiative is to contribute to solving the staffing issues in the country's agro-industrial complex.

"Agriculture plays an important role in the economy of our region, so specialists in this field are always in demand in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Since 2021, we have created more than 100 specialized classes in schools across various municipalities. The thematic camp is a wonderful project that will give students a broad understanding of careers in the industry and help them decide on their future educational path," said Mikhail Puchkov, Minister of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Over the course of 10 days, children will learn the fundamentals of digital agricultural production: they will learn about working with artificial intelligence in the agro-industrial complex and learn to apply modern technologies in practice. In addition, they will see the latest agricultural machinery, attend useful master classes and training sessions on setting up agricultural equipment, and participate in lectures about the use of unmanned aerial systems in agriculture.

"You have made the right choice by applying to participate in the camp. During the session, you will immerse yourself in the exciting world of agribusiness and agro-education, get acquainted with modern production technologies at our enterprises, and discover limitless possibilities for development in the agro-industrial complex. I am confident this journey will be not only educational but will also open doors to the future, because modern agriculture is a field with endless opportunities for professional growth and self-realization. Welcome to the world of agriculture, where everyone can find their calling," welcomed Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Alexey Firstov.

This year, the educational program is held for the second time. Last year's session involved 50 young people from 17 regions—from Kaliningrad Oblast to Altai Krai. During the summer camp, children learned about modern agro-technologies, managed agricultural machinery under the guidance of mentors, and developed their own projects aimed at developing rural areas. Many participants decided to pursue careers in the agricultural sector after visiting the agro-camp.

For the second season participants, a variety of interesting excursions have been prepared. In regional agricultural enterprises, students will learn about technical specialties in the agricultural industry, and at the State Literary-Memorial and Natural Museum-Reserve A.S. Pushkin "Baldino," they will learn about the historical sites of the Nizhny Novgorod land.

The program also includes sports activities: bike rides, pneumobiatlon competitions, volleyball, tennis, and Russian lapta. To motivate activity, children will earn a special currency—“AgroRubbles”—which they can spend on souvenirs at the end of the camp.

Upon completing the program, all participants will receive certificates confirming their successful participation, which can be used as evidence of individual achievement when applying to universities.

The regional Ministry of Education and Science reminded that early career guidance is one of the priorities within the framework of the new national project "Youth and Children," implemented by order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin starting from 2025. The project addresses tasks previously outlined in the national projects "Education" and "Science and Universities," and includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia – the Land of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for the Leadership Generation," and "Professionalism."
