Two petitions for clemency from convicts were considered in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On September 4, 2026, at 10:04 AM, the Society in the Nizhny Novgorod region held another meeting of the commission on pardon issues. During it, two petitions from convicts were considered, one of which was granted. This was reported by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Oksana Kislytsina.

      As the ombudsman noted, a thorough analysis of the severity of the offense, consideration of the convict's behavior during incarceration, examination of their personal data, and mandatory consideration of the victims' positions are required for such a decision.

      At the same time, the final decision on the pardon is made by the President of the Russian Federation.

      As Kislytsina explained, the commission will prepare and send a conclusion to the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, after which he will forward it for final consideration to the head of state.
