Newspaper triptych: Nizhny Novgorod publications dedicated their front pages to "Volga Arena"

      September 2, 2026 13:29 Sport Three Nizhny Novgorod newspapers have unusually designed their September issues for the opening of the "Volga Arena" at Strelka. The image of the ice palace was divided into three parts and placed on the front pages of "Nizhny Novgorod Truth," "Nizhny Novgorod News," and "Nizhny Novgorod Sport." Each publication maintained its theme. "Nizhny Novgorod Truth" covers key events in the region, "Nizhny Novgorod News" talks about city life, and "Nizhny Novgorod Sport" focuses on sports events. When placed side by side, the fragments connect into a panorama of the "Volga Arena."

      "This visual technique allowed us to literally convey the scale of the new sports facility: one front page was not enough for the new arena—it needed three," noted Roman Filtsov, deputy director of the NOIC media group.

      Let us remind you that the new sports complex is located at Strelka in Nizhny Novgorod. Its area is almost 96 thousand square meters. The arena was put into operation in August 2026. It has become the largest facility with artificial ice in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Among the first to visit the complex were Russian President Vladimir Putin, the presidential envoy to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, and the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin. The new arena, which seats 12 thousand spectators, will be home to the hockey club "Torpedo." On September 7, a test match (0+) featuring "Chaika" will take place there. On September 14, the main team will hold its first home game (0+) against Kazan's "Ak Bars." In addition to hockey matches, the venue will be able to host other sports and mass events.
