Elena Kuznetsova will head the Nizhny Novgorod Department of Transport.

      On August 31, 2026, at 16:29 Society Elena Kuznetsova will head the Department of Transport and Road Economy of the Nizhny Novgorod Administration starting September 1. The decision on her appointment was made by Mayor Yuri Shalabaev, the city administration reported.

      For Kuznetsova, this is not her first appointment to the position: she previously led the city transport department in 2018-2019. Her predecessor, Andrey Zhitnikov, resigned at his own request.

      Elena Kuznetsova graduated from VAGVT (now VGUWT) with a degree in "Economist." Over the years, she has worked at "Nizhny Novgorod Passenger Transport," the Ministry of Transport of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Ministry of Transport of Mari El, JSC "VVPPK," and other organizations.

      The Department of Transport of Nizhny Novgorod oversees a number of major city projects. These include the construction of new stations and the development of the existing metro infrastructure, maintenance of over 2,630 km of street and road networks, road repairs, modernization of traffic lights, installation of bus shelters, and road marking.

      In particular, in 2026, as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life," over 11.3 km of roads are being repaired in Nizhny Novgorod. About 170,000 square meters of road surface is planned to be repaired under other programs.
