A factory worth 1 billion rubles has begun construction in the special economic zone "Kulibin" in Bor.

      August 27, 2026 13:36 Economy The construction of the first enterprise has begun at the Bor site of the special economic zone "Kulibin". A factory for the production of steel electric-welded pipes will be established there. This was reported by the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The project is being implemented by the "Nizhny Novgorod Metal Rolling Plant," which is part of the "Metallservice" group of companies. The company received resident status in the SEZ in December 2025. The investment volume is estimated at 1 billion rubles, taking into account expenses at the pre-project stage. The enterprise plans to create 103 jobs. The factory will produce steel electric-welded pipes of round, square, and rectangular sections. After reaching its design capacity, the production volume is expected to be 105 thousand tons of products per year. The first phase of the enterprise is planned to be launched at the end of 2026, and the second in 2027. As noted by the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Yegor Polyakov, the products of the enterprise will meet a significant part of the regional market's needs for electric-welded pipes. Currently, three companies are residents of the Bor site of the SEZ "Kulibin." The territory was added to the special economic zone in November 2025. Its area is 117 hectares. The SEZ "Kulibin" was established in 2020 in Dzerzhinsk. After the expansion due to the site in Bor, its total area is about 842 hectares. Earlier, the first factory started operating at the state site of the SEZ "Kulibin" in Dzerzhinsk. It was opened by the head of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, and the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Anton Alikhanov.
