More than 300 cameras will record illegal waste dumping by residents of Nizhny Novgorod.

This was reported in his Max channel by the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the region, Yevgeny Lyulin, following a meeting of the committee on ecology and natural resources. Deputies, along with representatives from the ministries of ecology and digital development of the region, discussed a pilot project for photo and video recording of the license plates of violators. The experiment was deemed successful, so it has been decided to extend it across the entire region. As Yevgeny Lyulin noted, five stationary complexes installed in Nizhny Novgorod and Bor near the most problematic sites for the collection and disposal of solid municipal waste recorded 245 violations from August 1 to 14 alone. A fine was imposed for each case: for owners of passenger cars - from 10,000 rubles, for trucks - from 40,000 rubles. According to the speaker, the total amount was about half a million rubles per week.

      "The punishment in monetary terms is, of course, a last resort for those who do not understand words. But I agree with my colleagues that today only fines can stop the transformation of our cities into unauthorized landfills," emphasized Yevgeny Lyulin.

      The chairman of the Legislative Assembly also stated that the environmental agenda remains one of the key issues, as it directly affects the quality of life, and the new convocation of the regional parliament will continue to keep this issue under control. It should be noted that earlier the deputies of the ZSNO approved an appeal to the State Duma with a proposal to amend the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The amendments provide for a significant increase in fines for dumping and unloading waste using transport, as well as allowing the use of ordinary photo and video cameras that record the time and place of shooting to document such violations.
