Illegal tapping into the oil pipeline resulted in sentences for three Nizhny Novgorod residents.

      On August 20, 2026, at 15:00, Incidents: In the Lyskovsky district, three men received sentences for illegal tapping into the main oil pipeline "Almetyevsk - Nizhny Novgorod." This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      It was established that the criminals unlawfully connected to the pipeline, intending to steal oil as early as spring 2024. However, they were unable to carry out their criminal intent to the end, as the unauthorized tap was discovered in time, and the men were detained.

      The defendants in the criminal case included a 58-year-old resident of the Kstovo district, previously convicted of a similar crime, and two previously unconvicted residents of Nizhny Novgorod, aged 32 and 31.

      The court sentenced the 58-year-old defendant to 6 years of imprisonment in a special regime colony. His 32-year-old accomplice received 5 years in a strict regime colony, while the 31-year-old received 5 years and 3 months in a strict regime colony.

      After the verdict was announced, all three were taken into custody in the courtroom. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

      Earlier, it was reported that in Bogorodsk, six residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region were convicted for tapping into an oil product pipeline and stealing diesel fuel worth 4.3 million rubles.
