More than 2,000 Nizhny Novgorod residents saw masterpieces of Russian art thanks to the En+ and NGMH action.
On August 17, 2026, 16:41 Society The energy holding En+ together with the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum held a large-scale cultural event on City Day. Nearly 2,300 Nizhny Novgorod residents and guests of the city had the opportunity to visit the exhibitions of the NGHM|RUSSIAN ART building for free. "Supporting cultural initiatives is an integral part of the corporate social responsibility of the En+ energy holding. Therefore, in honor of City Day and the 95th anniversary of the Avtozavodskaya CHPP, we gifted Nizhny Novgorod residents and guests of the city a unique opportunity to touch the masterpieces of world culture. The art museum became a place of genuine cultural dialogue, where people saw priceless works that constitute the national heritage of the country. By the number of people who came to the museum, we see that such charitable events are in demand, which we are very pleased about. Special thanks to the museum management and each employee who preserves and maintains unique works of art, bringing true treasures from the best collections of the country for Nizhny Novgorod residents," noted Mikhail Efimov, General Director of En+ Teplo Volga. Visitors were able to appreciate masterpieces from the permanent exhibition of the NGHM. Among them are "The Crows Have Arrived" by Alexei Savrasov, "The Fortune-Teller Svetlana" by Karl Bryullov, "The Peasant from the Shy" by Ilya Repin. Guests saw the legendary double-sided canvas by Boris Kustodiev "Russian Venus," as well as the monumental work by Nikolai Koshelev "The Burial of Christ" (4×5.4 m) and many other works from the museum's rich collection. Among the unique exhibits is the floral study "A Sprig of Forget-Me-Nots in a Vase," created by the masters of the "Fabergé" firm at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, and a 25-kilogram altar Gospel, the cover of which is a vivid example of the jewelry art of Russian Baroque.
In addition, the NGHM features three major exhibition projects covering key stages of domestic visual and decorative-applied arts. On the first floor is a large-scale exhibition "The Arzamas Academy," dedicated to the 250th anniversary of A.V. Stupin, the founder of the first private art school in Russia in the province. The exhibition is realized in partnership with the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts, and the Arzamas Historical and Art Museum. The central piece of the project is the famous canvas by Vasily Perov "Hunters at Rest" (a graduate of the Stupin School), which practically never leaves the walls of the Tretyakov Gallery. For the Nizhny Novgorod audience, this work is being displayed for the first time. On the second floor is the exhibition project "Aivazovsky and Romantic Landscape," where guests can see original works by the renowned marine painter Ivan Aivazovsky and his contemporaries who worked in the genre of romantic landscape. On the third floor is one of the brightest exhibitions of the season - "Northern Sun," dedicated to the art of gold embroidery. The project, prepared in collaboration with the Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Reserve, the Kargopol Historical, Architectural and Art Museum, and the NGHM, traces the evolution of the craft from decorating peasant life to exquisite products for the imperial court.
"Patronage has always been closely linked to culture. We are sincerely grateful to the En+ energy holding for this gift to the residents of Nizhny Novgorod. The museum halls were filled with visitors on City Day. It is doubly pleasant that amidst such a variety of festive venues, Nizhny Novgorod residents and guests of the city chose the NGHM to spend this day surrounded by the richest heritage of Russian art," emphasized Roman Zhukarin, General Director of the NGHM. The event attracted the attention not only of Nizhny Novgorod residents but also of guests from Yekaterinburg, Ulyanovsk, Kirov, Ryazan, St. Petersburg, and the Republics of Tatarstan and Chuvashia. "Every painting penetrates the soul! Free admission is a unique opportunity to see masterpieces, and for us, as guests of the city, it was very pleasant to take advantage of this event. Thank you to all the organizers and museum staff!" shared Vera Zamarayeva. She came to Nizhny Novgorod from the Ulyanovsk region. "My grandparents have a reproduction of 'Hunters at Rest' hanging in their living room. I came specifically to capture the original in good quality and show it to them. They will be happy that I saw the original," said Alyona Aparina. The enterprises of the En+ holding create energy for life - say the energy workers. And art fills life with meaning and beauty - they add at the Art Museum.
