Photos of the construction of a house on the site of the Lenin Cultural Center in Nizhny Novgorod have been published.

      On August 16, 2026, at 15:35, Society In Nizhny Novgorod, the construction of a residential building continues on the site where the Lenin Palace of Culture used to be located. This was reported by a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."

      Recall that the cultural palace was built in 1927, but it has not been used since 2008. Over the following years, there were several fires in the building, and ultimately it ended up in an emergency state.

      At the beginning of 2026, the building was demolished. A multi-apartment building will be constructed in its place: 80% of the area will be allocated for housing, while another 20% will be occupied by social facilities.

      Initially, the completion of the work was planned for 2026, but then the deadlines were revised. Now the project's completion is scheduled for 2028.

      At the same time, the building itself had the status of a cultural heritage site, but only its external appearance is under protection. The facades are planned to be restored while preserving historical architectural solutions.

      Separate work is planned for the mosaic panel. It has already been carefully dismantled and sent for storage. After the restoration is completed, the panel will be returned to its original place in the hall.

      For the finishing of the facades, materials that will be as close as possible to the originals are planned to be used. The walls that are part of the protected object will be covered with thin-layer plaster over brickwork.
