How Nizhny Novgorod celebrates its 805th anniversary: photo report

      August 15, 2026 17:30 Culture and Leisure The city day in Nizhny Novgorod is being celebrated today with great fanfare. The main events (0+) are taking place today at Minin and Pozharsky Square — concerts, master classes, folk games, and other activities are happening here. The celebration is held under the slogan "A City that Unites." One of its main themes has become the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, declared by President Vladimir Putin. Patriotic zones are operating in the square, there is an exhibition of modern weapons, and guests can meet participants of the special military operation. Masters are conducting master classes on Volga crafts, and folk games, entertainments, and round dances are organized for guests. Songs are performed from the stage, and dance numbers take place. Local artists, as well as guests from Mordovia and Mari El, are performing for the Nizhny Novgorod residents. Well-known children's bloggers have already taken the stage. But the most anticipated performance (6+) is still ahead. At 20:30, Oleg Gazmanov will take the stage at Minin Square. The artist has already held a rehearsal before the evening concert.
