      In Nizhny Novgorod, an ecological cleanup took place at the regional natural monument — Lake Sortirovochnoye — as part of the all-Russian campaign "Water of Russia." Starting in 2024, the campaign will be included in the national project "Ecological Well-Being." More than 120 people participated in the cleanup. As a result of the cleanup, 16 cubic meters of garbage were collected from the shores of the lake. Lake Sortirovochnoye has the status of a specially protected natural area of regional significance. It is home to birds listed in the Red Book of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Participants in the cleanup included representatives from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the charitable foundation X5 "We Help," volunteers from the ANO DPO "KUPNO," and other organizations, as well as local residents. The main partner and organizer of the event was the Charitable Foundation X5. The regional operator LLC "Nizhecologia-NN" assisted in conducting the cleanup by providing two 8-cubic-meter containers for waste collection and organizing their transportation to the waste sorting plant free of charge. People participated in the cleanup on paddleboards provided by the wake park "Sphere of Extremes." The date of the cleanup coincided with Physical Culture Day, so the ecological program was complemented by sports activities supported by the Ministry of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod region and ecological master classes from the "Ecotorium" center. As reported by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Olga Belyanina, 267 cleanups have already been held in the region since the beginning of the year, cleaning 128.5 kilometers of shores. It is worth noting that starting in 2025, a national project "Ecological Well-Being" initiated by President Vladimir Putin will be implemented in Russia, which will fulfill tasks previously outlined in the national project "Ecology." The national project includes six federal projects: "General Cleanup," "Water of Russia," "Preservation of Biological Diversity and Development of Ecological Tourism," "Forest Conservation," "Circular Economy," and "Clean Air."
