The large family of Feinstra, who moved from Canada to the Nizhny Novgorod region, faced uncertainty when formalizing their status in Russia. According to the head of the family, Arend Feinstra, this hinders them from continuing the development of their farm. "For now, we do not want to invest in the construction of another building. We need to understand what our prospects are with immigration. We have already invested a lot here and would like to have a bit more confidence before investing additional funds," Feinstra said. At the same time, the Canadian emphasized that the family does not regret the move. However, there is still no clarity regarding their immigration status. "Right now, we do not have the opportunity to obtain permanent residency - we remain on a temporary status," the head of the family admitted. Ideally, the Feinstras would like to first obtain permanent residency and then citizenship, but, as the farmer claims, they currently do not have such an opportunity. "For that, I would have to sign a military contract, and I cannot leave the farm for a year. I need to be here, develop the farm, and stay close to my family," Arend noted. Earlier, the Canadian spoke about problems with the traffic police.
