Every third school student in Nizhny Novgorod has joined the project of the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation on career guidance.

On August 10, 2026, 16:31 Society More than 160,000 schoolchildren and students from Nizhny Novgorod participated in events organized as part of the project by the Ministry of Labor of Russia for career guidance and youth routing. As part of the project, which started in the region in February 2026, schoolchildren and students get acquainted with potential employers, visit Nizhny Novgorod enterprises, and can also receive individual employment assistance plans by contacting any employment center. Organizations in the region that need qualified personnel will eventually receive trained and motivated employees. The project is part of the national project "Personnel," which is being implemented under the directive of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. "Since the start of the project, more than 160,000 young people have participated. This is approximately every third schoolchild and every second student in Nizhny Novgorod. The coverage is impressive and corresponds to the scale of the task - to help young people determine their future careers, and to help Nizhny Novgorod enterprises with future personnel," emphasized the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Yegor Polyakov. When forming the program, the forecast of regional personnel needs for the coming years is taken into account. The project is being implemented by the Nizhny Novgorod Employment Center "Work of Russia" in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. "We see a huge interest from young people in career guidance events: over the academic year, more than 160,000 schoolchildren and students participated in them. The format of live meetings with professionals, excursions to production sites, and modern gaming technologies allow young people to consciously approach their choice of profession, see career prospects, and opportunities to realize their potential in their home region," noted the Minister of Demography and Human Capital Development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Igor Pantyukhin. Specialists from the "Work of Russia" employment center conducted over 800 thematic events for schoolchildren and students, including career guidance classes using VR glasses "The World of Professions through a Virtual Lens." Modern technologies allow young people to literally immerse themselves in the production environment and try on the most in-demand specialties. A special place in the program was occupied by excursions to leading enterprises in the region, organized as part of the all-Russian campaign "Week without Turnstiles." In total, the students visited 50 enterprises. At the enterprise sites, young people got acquainted, first of all, with working professions: radio assembler, welder, regulator, turner, engineer, machinist, conveyor line worker. "It is much easier to decide on a profession when you are not just reading about it on the internet, but seeing the enterprise where you might work, observing the real production process, and can communicate live with the employer. This is exactly what our career guidance events are aimed at," said acting director of the Nizhny Novgorod Employment Center "Work of Russia," Elena Vidyaeva. The project will continue in the next academic year. The organizers plan to expand the list of partner enterprises and supplement the program with new interactive formats to help young people find their career path in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
