A new criminal case has been opened due to landslides in Novinki.

      On August 10, 2026, 14:14 Society A criminal case has been reopened due to the landslide situation in Novinki, threatening residential buildings. This was reported by the information center of the Investigative Committee of Russia. Local residents addressed the head of the agency, Alexander Bastrykin, in comments to his office's account on VKontakte. They reported that their private homes are located on a slope along the Oka River in a landslide zone. For the past ten years, there have been regular soil collapses here, posing a threat to the destruction of buildings and the lives of people. This year, one family was urgently evacuated to a temporary housing fund, and a state of heightened readiness was introduced within the boundaries of the plot where the house stands. The Investigative Committee added that in 2022, the court ordered the authorized bodies to carry out anti-landslide measures within six months. However, this has not yet been fulfilled. Residents continue to fear for their safety. Earlier, the investigative department of the Nizhny Novgorod region had already initiated a criminal case, but this decision was overturned by the supervisory authority. Now the investigation has been initiated again to protect the rights of citizens. Alexander Bastrykin instructed the acting head of the regional Investigative Committee, Alexander Dynkov, to present a report on the progress and results of the investigation, as well as the measures being taken.
