A resident of Arzamas transferred 255 thousand to a fraudster for non-existent intimate leisure activities.
A 44-year-old local resident contacted the duty unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Arzamas" and reported that he had fallen victim to a scam. According to the applicant, he independently found a website offering intimate services on the Internet and called the phone number provided on the site. During the conversation, a man who introduced himself as a manager offered the applicant the corresponding services, and then, gaining his trust and skillfully misleading him, convinced him to transfer 255,000 rubles to several accounts, supposedly to confirm the seriousness of his intentions and to pay for a preliminary reservation. The victim made all transfers through online banking from his savings account, believing that the service would be provided immediately after payment. However, after receiving the money, the "manager" stopped responding, and the promised meeting never took place. Realizing he had been deceived, the man promptly contacted the police. A criminal case has been initiated by the investigative department under part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed on a large scale). The sanctions of this article provide for punishment of up to six years of imprisonment. Currently, operational search activities are being conducted to establish the identity of the criminal and his whereabouts. Police recommend that citizens be more vigilant and pay close attention to online transactions. Law enforcement advises against making payments for any services online if prepayment is required. Remember that demands for immediate payment, constant redirects to different numbers, and the absence of specific information about the place and time of the meeting are almost always signs of fraud. If you do become a victim of scammers, it is necessary to block transactions on your card account and report the incident to the police at the numbers 02 or 102 (from a mobile phone), or to file a statement at the nearest police department.
