22 settlements will be united in the Chkalovsky district for the purpose of gasification.
On August 7, 2026, at 14:35, the Council of Deputies of the Chkalovsk urban district submitted a draft law to the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on the unification of several settlements. The initiative aims to create conditions for gasification and the development of territories.
It concerns the transformation of villages and settlements that have effectively merged into single populated areas while preserving one of the existing names. The basis for this was the appeals from residents and the results of surveys.
The explanatory note states that the settlements share common engineering, transport, and social infrastructure: electricity supply is provided from the same lines, a unified road network is used, and residents utilize common schools, FAPs, shops, and cultural institutions. The unification will allow individual villages to connect to gas networks through the already existing distribution networks of neighboring settlements.
In the Belovsko-Novinsky rural council, it is proposed to merge the villages of Bubnovo and Varlashevo while retaining the name "village of Bubnovo," as well as the village of Sitskoe and the village of Ryzhkovo while retaining the name "village of Sitskoe."
In the Kotelnikovsky rural council, it is planned to merge the villages of Zhukovo and Vashkino, Chernilnikovo and Pavelkovo, Sapanikha and Kutyachevo, as well as the village of Balakhino and the village of Strelka. The new populated areas are proposed to retain the names Vashkino, Pavelkovo, Kutyachevo, and Strelka, respectively.
In the Kuznetsovsky rural council, the merger of the village of Perekhvatkino and Gubtsevo is planned while retaining the name "village of Perekhvatkino."
In the Purekhovsky rural council, it is proposed to attach the village of Fomino to the village of Purek. The settlements are connected by common infrastructure and are part of a tourist route: in 2026, Purek was included in the Golden Ring of Russia, and a popular holy spring is located in Fomino.
The largest initiative concerns the Solomatovsky rural council. It is proposed to merge the village of Solomaty with the villages of Bolshoye Yakunino, Kodochigi, Morozovo, Umniki, and Shishkino, retaining the name of the village of Solomaty.
Earlier, it was reported that two villages in the Varnavinsky district would become hamlets. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
