Participant of the Special Military Operation: "With such reliable support, we feel more confident on the front line."
August 6, 2026 15:28 Society A participant in the special military operation with the call sign "Les," while on short leave, arrived in Nizhny Novgorod for another batch of humanitarian aid. Representatives of the coordination center for supporting military personnel, operating at the House of National Unity, handed over technical equipment necessary for performing combat tasks. "Aid from the Nizhny Novgorod region comes to us constantly, of various kinds. Drones, generators, building materials, and much more arrive as part of humanitarian cargoes based on our requests. Taking this opportunity, I decided to come personally and thank everyone who supports us. With such reliable support, we feel more confident on the front lines and know for sure: victory will be ours!" emphasized the participant of the special military operation. "Les" shared that before the special operation, he lived an ordinary life, actively engaged in sports, became a master of sports in Russia in all-style karate, and worked as a children's coach. He is married and raising two children. In 2022, he decided that he would be more in demand in the combat zone and voluntarily went to the special operation. "I couldn't act otherwise. All my friends went to the special military operation, and there were no reasons more significant than a sense of patriotism. I decided according to my conscience, as we were raised. I grew up in a military family: my grandfathers fought during the Great Patriotic War, my father and uncle are career officers, and my mother served—these are our traditions. It was my time," the volunteer recounted. He began his service in the special operation zone as a private in a motorized rifle regiment, then became the commander of a reconnaissance platoon. Now "Les" commands an assault squad. "We have been working from the very beginning on the line of combat contact in the Krasnoliman direction. I will never forget one assault. On one of the missions, my guys and I flanked the enemy from the rear, where there were heavily fortified positions, underground passages, and approaches. Our assault troops literally swept away four strongholds, repelled a counteroffensive, and evacuated the wounded. The guys performed like true professionals. I am proud of each one!" recalls the commander of the assault troops. For this and other successfully completed combat tasks, the officer has been awarded the Order of Courage, the Zhukov Medal, and the "For Bravery" medal, and has departmental awards from the Ministry of Defense of Russia. "I don't consider myself a hero; I am an ordinary soldier performing my task. I went to the special operation for my country, my homeland! How else could I do it?" says "Les." Let us remind you that starting from June 15, 2026, the amount of the one-time payment to volunteers of the special military operation, provided they sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Russia in Nizhny Novgorod, has been increased to 3.2 million rubles. The monthly monetary allowance is from 210,000 rubles. Additionally, for military personnel in the UAV troops, extra payments for combat merits and for the destruction of enemy weapons and equipment have been established—up to 500,000 rubles. Those who sign military contracts are issued certificates for the provision of land plots in the Nizhny Novgorod region. There is also a mechanism for concluding military social contracts in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which guarantee the family of the contractor free vouchers to sanatorium-rehabilitation centers and children's health camps, priority free medical care, benefits for utility payments, preschool services, and other types of support. Furthermore, individual support for the family of the military personnel is provided. The coordination center for supporting military personnel, mobilized individuals, and their families, operating at the House of National Unity, ensures the transportation of residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region to their places of service. At the same time, the region continues to actively support military personnel by sending humanitarian cargoes to the area of the special military operation.
