      On August 5, a strategic session on the development of the regional volunteer community "Good is a way of life" took place in Nizhny Novgorod at the venue of the House of National Unity. Representatives from over 50 volunteer organizations and socially oriented non-profit organizations participated in the discussion.

      The strategic session was held as part of a joint program of the "Good.rf" Association, Rosmolodyozh, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. The program aims to unite federal and regional initiatives in the field of volunteering, charity, and support for socially oriented NGOs. Its goal is to create a sustainable infrastructure for the development of volunteering, implement modern digital services, and achieve the national goal of increasing the share of youth involved in public and volunteer activities to 45% by 2030.

      Participants in the strategic session included Maria Tsukanova, head of the #WEARETOGETHER movement development department of the "Good.rf" Association; Igor Sedykh, Minister of Social Development and Family Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region; Lev Skitnevsky, Deputy Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region; and Daria Kovanova, Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Volunteer Center.

      Opening the strategic session, Igor Sedykh, Minister of Social Development and Family Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, noted that the region already has a strong support system for volunteer initiatives.

      "Today, there are 17 'Good Centers' operating in 13 municipalities in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Some of them have been recognized as among the top 150 based on the results of nationwide monitoring. As of 2026, more than 300,000 residents of the region are involved in volunteer activities. This is a serious potential that needs to be developed. Our task is not just to exchange opinions but to jointly identify strategic directions for the development of the volunteer community and to formulate projects that will be in demand by the residents of the region," emphasized Igor Sedykh.

      The work was organized in the format of a project session. After discussing federal trends in the development of volunteering, participants formed teams, identified key areas for the development of the regional volunteer community, and began developing specific project initiatives.

      "Today, our task is not just to outline the key challenges facing the regional volunteer community, but to jointly develop solutions that can be immediately put into action. This format allows us to turn ideas into real projects. We want volunteering to become a natural part of people's lives, and for good to truly be the norm of our lives," noted Daria Kovanova.

      As a result of the strategic session, the best project solutions will be further developed in collaboration with relevant organizations and agencies and may become the basis for new regional initiatives in the field of volunteering and support for civic projects.
