A 54-year-old man died in a fire in a high-rise building in Nizhny Novgorod.

      August 4, 2026 11:23 Incidents A fire with a fatality occurred in a residential high-rise building on Berezovskaya Street, 120 in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Nizhny Novgorod region. The signal about the fire was received around four o'clock in the morning. When firefighters arrived at the scene, smoke was coming from an apartment on the ninth floor. The area of the fire was 15 square meters. At any moment, the fire could have spread to neighboring premises. Fifteen employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and five units of equipment participated in the extinguishing efforts. During the fire, a 54-year-old man died. According to preliminary data, the fire occurred as a result of careless handling of a cigarette.
