      Starting September 1, additional support measures will be introduced for passengers with reduced mobility. In airports across Russia, including Nizhny Novgorod's Chkalov Airport, new service rules for passengers with reduced mobility will come into effect on September 1, 2026. According to the order from the Ministry of Transport of Russia, call buttons for assistance will be installed at the entrances to terminals, marked with Braille tactile dots. With their help, passengers will be able to inform airport staff of their arrival and receive the necessary assistance. The new rules also provide for free assistance at all stages of the airport experience: from meeting at the entrance and check-in to passing through security, obtaining a wheelchair, help with luggage, and escorting to the aircraft. Similar support will be provided upon arrival at the destination airport. Additionally, passengers with reduced mobility will be able to book special seats on the aircraft for free at the time of ticket purchase. If a person requires an escort, a seat next to them will be guaranteed at no extra charge. The new requirements will come into effect on September 1, 2026, and will apply to all Russian airports.
