Waffle markings have been applied at seven complex intersections in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On July 27, 2026, at 15:48, Society "Waffle markings" have been made at seven complex intersections in Nizhny Novgorod, reports the mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, on his MAX channel.

      New markings have appeared at the intersection of Ilyinskaya and Malaya Pokrovskaya streets, Minin and Pozharsky Square with Varvarskaya Street, Gagarin Avenue and Veterinary Street, Beketov and Nartov streets, as well as three at Lyadov Square.

      It is worth noting that "waffle markings" refer to a type of road marking with intersecting diagonal yellow stripes. It designates a section of the intersection that cannot be entered if a traffic jam forms ahead. A fine of one thousand rubles is imposed for entering the waffle marking.

      The mayor also noted that the application of new road markings is concluding near schools and kindergartens. In particular, it has appeared near schools No. 138, No. 123, No. 160, No. 60, Lyceum No. 180, kindergartens No. 125, No. 103, and others. The work will be completed in August.

      Earlier, it was reported that in 2026, over 110 thousand square meters will be updated in Nizhny Novgorod. 95% of the total volume is applied with plastic.
