      The memorial museum of V.P. Chkalov has opened in Chkalovsk after a large-scale restoration. The update was timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the legendary non-stop flight of Chkalov's crew from Moscow to Udd Island. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The house where the famous pilot was born was built by his father back in 1896. This is a cultural heritage site of federal significance. The work was carried out in two stages — the first began in 2024, in honor of the 120th anniversary of Valery Chkalov's birth: at that time, emergency works were conducted and the territory was improved. The second stage has just been completed — specialists restored the facades, interior rooms, porch, veranda, balcony, and roof. The contractor also updated the stoves, windows, doors, and floors. In total, more than 64.6 million rubles were spent on the restoration from regional and local budgets.

      During the work, it was possible to expand the exhibition space by approximately 70 square meters.
