      The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court ordered the non-profit organization "Fund for the Major Repairs of Apartment Buildings in the Nizhny Novgorod Region" to pay compensation for moral damages following the collapse of a ceiling in an apartment. This was reported by the court's press service. The court reviewed the civil case on appeal filed by the owners of the residential premises against LLC "UK Nizhny Novgorodets-1" and the non-profit organization "Fund for the Major Repairs of Apartment Buildings in the Nizhny Novgorod Region." The plaintiffs indicated that due to poor-quality roof repairs, their apartment on the Upper Volga Embankment was flooded. In June 2025, the ceiling in the apartment collapsed, causing the woman to sustain severe bruises and damage to her property. An inspection established that the cause of the ceiling collapse was poor-quality roof repairs. The cost of the work and materials needed to repair the damage to the residential premises amounted to over 137,000 rubles. The plaintiff claimed 100,000 rubles in moral damages from the defendants. The first-instance court denied her claim. During the re-examination of the case, it was established that the plaintiff's health was harmed due to poor-quality repairs. Thus, the deficiencies in the major roof repairs were not addressed from 2017 to 2025. The court awarded the woman 100,000 rubles in moral damages. The appellate ruling came into effect on the day it was adopted.
