The fuel crisis has increased interest in electric vehicles in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

July 22, 2026 14:30 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, amid fuel shortages, the demand for electric and hybrid vehicles has noticeably increased. Experts from the automotive market shared insights with IA "Vremya N" about the reasons for this change in consumer behavior. According to them, the average cost of hybrid and electric cars has risen from 1,390,000 to 1,710,000 rubles. The increase was 23%. Alexander Korotkov, General Director of Migtorg, believes that the heightened interest in such transportation is temporary. He advised owners of gasoline-powered vehicles not to rush into selling amid the current situation. Nizhny Novgorod automotive expert Alexander Deich also noted the rising costs of installing gas cylinder equipment. According to him, prices for GBO have significantly increased, and such a solution no longer justifies its cost. It was previously reported that 13 more fast electric charging stations are planned to be installed in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Currently, there are 126 of them. It has also become known that the number of electric vehicles in the region has increased tenfold over the past five years. At present, the fuel situation in the region has normalized: long queues have disappeared, but the release limits and the "even-odd" refueling order remain.
