The mayor of Nizhny Novgorod stood in line for an hour at the gas station.
On July 17, 2026, at 16:56, Society: Nizhny Novgorod Mayor Yuri Shalabaev visited one of the city’s gas stations to assess the work of municipal employees and staff from subordinate institutions who help organize vehicle traffic during shifts at the gas stations.
On July 17, volunteers have been working at network gas stations for the ninth day. During this time, about two thousand city administration employees and specialists from subordinate organizations have been involved in the shifts.
During his visit to the gas station at the Grebnoi Canal, Shalabaev went through the entire process as an ordinary motorist. According to him, on July 16, around 20:00, a queue of about 15-20 cars formed at the gas station. However, service was temporarily halted due to fuel being drained from the fuel truck. The technical break lasted about half an hour, after which the station resumed servicing customers.
During this time, the administration staff on duty at the gas station directed vehicles to free pumps and helped manage the traffic flow. Among them was Yaroslav Kuznetsov, head of the engineering infrastructure department of the Nizhny Novgorod district administration.
According to the city head, refueling the car took about an hour in total, but most of this time was spent waiting for the technical work to be completed.
“As soon as he left, the queue began to shrink quickly. There were about 20 cars in front of me. They refueled very quickly, just like I did right after them,” the mayor wrote on social media.
He added that queues at city gas stations are still present, but their size depends on the specific gas station.
