The telecom operator simplifies access to private networks for businesses in Nizhny Novgorod.

On July 15, 2026, at 11:54, MegaFon expands its portfolio of private networks and is the first in the market to launch a lightweight version of Private LTE. The new solution makes the sought-after technology more accessible for small and medium-sized enterprises: a compact device combines a base station and network core. This approach allows for the rapid deployment of a secure mobile infrastructure at the site in a short time and with lower costs.

Unlike the traditional model of building a private network, which is oriented towards large distributed sites with complex terrain, pLTE Lite is specifically designed for medium and small facilities—such as logistics and warehouse complexes, medium-sized industrial sites, temporary and remote production areas.

The key advantages of such a service include rapid deployment—the integration of base station and core functions into one device reduces launch times to just a few days. Flexible coverage area configuration is achieved through the selection and adjustment of antennas or the connection of additional picocells. The solution supports the integration of transport, sensors, cameras, and industrial equipment, and can easily scale to a full-fledged Private LTE without changing the technological platform if necessary.

The lightweight version of the network has been tested in MegaFon's own telecom equipment laboratory—the results confirmed its compliance with industry standards and current market needs. The solution provides coverage of up to five square kilometers, supports the connection of several hundred subscriber devices, and demonstrates a throughput of up to 300 Mbps, ensuring stable operation even under high loads. The complex fully complies with LTE technological parameters and, in the future, will support 5G, expanding operational capabilities and scenarios.

"The launch of pLTE Lite is a logical development of our expertise in the private networks segment. We see a growing market demand for simple, fast, and cost-effective solutions for digitalizing processes. Our approach allows companies to start their transformation with minimal infrastructure costs—this solution reduces capital expenditures by 70-80% and operational costs by up to 50%. At the same time, we are ready to support the client and scale the network as their business needs grow," noted Alexander Yaresko, Director of Strategic Marketing for Corporate and Government Segments.

Such architecture will be in demand at sites where isolated data transmission is critically important, but the costs of classic radio coverage are economically unfeasible. According to preliminary estimates from the operator's analysts, in typical application scenarios, customers will be able to increase the efficiency of most production processes, which will ultimately accelerate the return on investment—the average payback period will be 12-18 months compared to 2-4 years for classic networks.
