      July 13, 2026 13:49 Society The project documentation for the major renovation of the former "Aquarium" café building on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street in Nizhny Novgorod has received a positive conclusion from the state expertise. This is reported in the Unified State Register of Real Estate. The renovation involves adapting the former café into a cultural and exhibition center. The developer is the National Research Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky. The project documentation was prepared by LLC "Cascade". The expertise was conducted by the Federal Autonomous Institution "Main Department of State Expertise". It was previously reported that the regional branch of the TASS information center could be located in the former café building, but this idea has likely been abandoned. Initially, the university planned to open its own press center and classrooms in the premises. At the end of 2025, a concept for creating a cultural center with museum space was also announced. The issue of the renovation has been discussed for several years. In 2024, it was included in the capital repair program with federal co-financing. In the summer of the same year, external finishing work was completed.
