      On July 13, 2026, at 12:27, the Society reported that the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing in the Nizhny Novgorod Region summarized the results of monitoring the quality of meat products for the first six months of 2026.

      As part of the supervisory activities and monitoring conducted by the Federal Budgetary Institution "Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Nizhny Novgorod Region," specialists examined 1,015 samples of meat products. Inspections were carried out based on sanitary-chemical, physicochemical, microbiological, and parasitological indicators, as well as for the presence of antibiotics, GMOs, and radioactive substances.

      According to the agency, 2.4% of the examined samples did not meet hygiene standards for microbiological indicators. Violations of requirements for physicochemical indicators were found in 2% of the samples. At the same time, the presence of GMOs, radioactive substances, and antibiotics in the examined meat and meat product samples was not detected.

      As a result of the monitoring activities, 36 batches of meat products weighing a total of 307.48 kg were withdrawn from circulation. Individuals who violated mandatory requirements were held administratively liable under part 2 of Article 14.43 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation.

      The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing reminded residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Region about the rules for purchasing meat products. It is recommended to buy meat only in stationary retail outlets or at markets. The products should be stored in refrigerated equipment and have documents confirming their origin, quality, and safety: a waybill, a declaration of conformity, a veterinary certificate, or a veterinary statement.
