Bone cement PIMU received indefinite registration from Roszdravnadzor.

The Roszdravnadzor issued an indefinite registration certificate for the bone cement produced by LLC "Endokarbon." The third-class risk medical device was created using technology developed by scientists at PIMU as part of the "Priority 2030" program. This was reported by the university's press service.

Bone cement is used in joint replacement surgeries, vertebroplasty, and the treatment of severe injuries. In Russia, about 200,000 procedures using this material are performed annually; however, until recently, the market was almost entirely dependent on foreign manufacturers, and there were no competitive Russian analogs, which created a risk of shortages.

The development by Nizhny Novgorod specialists will allow for the replacement of products from companies in unfriendly countries and provide Russian clinics with domestic materials for complex surgeries on joints and the spine.

The PIMU team, together with industrial partners, developed not only the formulation but also established a complete production cycle, including the procurement of key raw materials, medical polymethyl methacrylate. This ensures technological independence.

The university noted that the "ENDOKARBON" line includes standard and low-viscosity cements, options with antibiotics, as well as specialized compositions for vertebrology and cranioplasty. The products have undergone a full cycle of preclinical and clinical trials, confirming biocompatibility and reliability.

"In a short time, the PIMU team brought the development of the medical device 'Bone Cement' from idea to registration certificate. The work was complex and required employees to possess not only scientific but also financial, commercial, legal, and many other competencies," noted Elena Bozhkova, Vice-Rector for Research at PIMU.

It was previously reported that a new method for treating recurrent enteroceles has been patented in Nizhny Novgorod. The NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
