      On the territory of the 7th Fire and Rescue Unit of Nizhny Novgorod, the second stage of the competition for the title of "Best Employee of the Firefighting Service" took place. Representatives from six teams of the Federal Fire Service and the Firefighting Service of the FPS GPS of the Nizhny Novgorod region participated in the professional competition. The total number of competitors was 7 people. The competition program included checking deep theoretical knowledge, solving tactical tasks, and passing physical fitness standards. The competitors answered questions from a set of 20 covering the basics of fire extinguishing organization, technical characteristics of firefighting equipment, first aid, labor protection rules, and the activities of the gas and smoke protection service. Additionally, the employees competed in solving practical tasks related to calculating the air supply in an unbreathable environment and choosing fire extinguishing tactics. The final theoretical stage was an interview where participants were required to clearly articulate the main concepts in the field of fire extinguishing organization and conducting emergency rescue operations. Physical fitness was assessed based on the results of pull-ups and a shuttle run of 10x10 meters. However, the main challenge was a special distance simulating the real working conditions of firefighters. Participants performed the following standards: putting on combat clothing and equipment, conducting a working check of the breathing apparatus in fresh air, choosing a decisive direction and reproducing the scheme of forces and means deployment, rolling a tire, opening a door with a chainsaw, hitting a target by spraying water from a fire truck, rescuing a victim, and working with a fire ladder. As a result of the intense competition, the prize places were distributed as follows: 1st place — Azimov Babir, deputy head of the duty shift of the SPT 2 PSO FPS GPS — head of the duty shift. 2nd place — Sergey Makarov, deputy head of the SPT 3-OFPS — head of the duty shift. 3rd place — Ivan Ganichev, deputy head of the duty shift of the SPT 20 PSO FPS GPS — head of the duty shift.
