For the first time in Russia, a map of innovative needs in the field of reproductive health will be created.
At the meeting of the State Council commission on the "Family" direction, chaired by the head of Mordovia Artem Zdunov, measures to improve the reproductive health protection system were discussed. A key tool for systematically addressing this task will be the creation of a specialized map of innovative needs. This was reported by the press service of the State Council. The map will be a public digital service (a web interface with data visualization elements) accessible to all interested parties without geographical restrictions. It will be open for use by doctors, medical center leaders, developers, and investors from all regions of Russia. The launch of the first working version of the service is scheduled for autumn 2026.
Ekaterina Petrova, director of the GenerationS corporate innovation development platform, presented the platform's role in this project. She noted that the map will become a working tool that allows us to see where medicine is waiting for breakthrough solutions and where developments lack the final stage of implementation.
"Today, years, and sometimes decades, can pass between a doctor's request and a ready technology that has emerged in the laboratory. We want to turn this logic upside down: to ensure that medical organizations themselves formulate relevant requests for innovations, and developers have the opportunity to test and implement their solutions not in a vacuum, but for specific clinical tasks. The needs map will become not just a document for us, but a navigator for action. We plan to launch competitive selections for each identified request in the format of 'challenge - solution,' where winners can immediately move on to pilot testing at partner clinics without lengthy bureaucratic approvals. Our goal is to ensure that innovations reach patients not in 5-7 years, but within the next 12-18 months. GenerationS, as a corporate innovation platform, is ready to act as an aggregator of such requests and connect them with the best technological teams," emphasized Ekaterina Petrova.
The innovation map proposed to be created with the support of GenerationS will not be a static document but a living digital service with feedback from patients and doctors—this will allow for the rapid launch of competitive selections and the implementation of the best developments in real-time, accelerating the emergence of new diagnostic and treatment methods. The map will take on the role of a linking element between medicine and technology developers: it will gather requests from doctors and clinics, find startups and research groups for them, and also help conduct pilot tests of solutions in real clinical conditions.
Unlike research institutes that analyze the market, GenerationS acts as an operational aggregator and executor. Currently, work on the map has already gone beyond a pure initiative: the platform is actively collecting primary requests from pilot medical centers and forming a technical assignment for the digital service.
Meeting participants noted positive dynamics in the demographic sphere. Over the past 10 years, the number of abortions by women's decision has decreased by 3.6 times, and thanks to pre-abortion counseling, more than 46,000 pregnancies have been saved. Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko added that Russia has the lowest infant mortality rate among large countries in the world. The creation of a map of innovative needs in the field of reproductive health will help improve these indicators.
As part of the new national project "Family," the construction of more than 466 women's clinics, modernization of 145 perinatal centers, maternity hospitals, and 185 children's hospitals is planned by 2030.
Particular attention is paid to early diagnosis. Last year, nearly 18 million Russians underwent reproductive health check-ups. In Mordovia, one of the first in the country, a men's health department was opened, where more than 8,000 patients have already received treatment. These measures align with the objectives of the national project "Effective and Competitive Economy," aimed at improving the quality of human capital.
