Such cases have been recorded in 49 municipalities of the region, as well as in all eight districts of Nizhny Novgorod. According to the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor, the number of appeals since the beginning of 2026 is 15% lower than the average long-term level. The highest number of appeals was registered in the urban districts of Bor (293) and Dzerzhinsk (306), as well as in the Vetluzhsky (259) and Pavlovsky (326) municipal districts. In Nizhny Novgorod, residents of the Priokskiy (381), Soviet (277), and Avtozavodsky (275) districts most frequently sought medical assistance. Most often, residents of the region were attacked by ticks in their yards - in 36% of cases. Another 35% of bites occurred in garden plots, 17% - in forests, 10% - in parks and squares. Cases of tick bites have also been registered outside the Nizhny Novgorod region. As of today, four cases of tick-borne viral encephalitis have been registered in the region, including in a 12-year-old child. Infection occurred after tick bites in the Gorodetsky, Vetluzhsky, and Chkalovsky municipal districts. As noted by Rospotrebnadzor, all the sick did not seek medical assistance for emergency prevention of tick-borne viral encephalitis. In addition, 25 cases of ixodid tick borreliosis have been registered among adult residents of Nizhny Novgorod, the urban district of Shakhunya, as well as the Kstovsky, Tonkinsky, Balakhna, Gorodetsky, Dalnekonstantinovsky, Vetluzhsky, Semyonovsky, and Sosnovsky municipal districts. In 96% of cases, infection occurred in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The diagnosis has been laboratory confirmed for all the sick. Since the beginning of the season, specialists have examined 6961 ticks, including 6631 removed from people. Positive results were found in 1361 cases, which is 19.5%. The tick-borne encephalitis virus was found in 13 ticks (0.18%) collected in the urban districts of Shakhunya and Bor, as well as in the Pavlovsky, Sharangsky, and Uren municipal districts. Another 1089 ticks (19.5%) were infected with borrelia, 34 (0.7%) - ehrlichia, 225 (4.8%) - anaplasma.
