The Veterinary Committee is determining the cause of the mass death of bees in Shatki.

This was reported by the NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" in the Veterinary Committee of the Nizhny Novgorod region. After appeals to the veterinary service of the Shatkovsky district from apiary owners about the death of bees, specialists promptly arrived at the scene. There, they collected pathological material for laboratory research. The bees will be tested for infectious diseases and possible toxicological effects.

      "The cause of the mass death of bees has not yet been established. An official conclusion will be provided based on the results of laboratory diagnostics," the committee added.

      Earlier, local beekeepers reported that cases have been recorded in Bogdanovka, Kostianka, Veliky Vrag, and Vechekusovo. According to them, the insects have been dying for several days. Beekeepers suspect that the cause could be the chemical treatment of agricultural fields conducted in early July. In their opinion, the bees may have been poisoned during these operations.
