Rostekhnadzor is investigating the incident with the Nizhny Novgorod cable car.
On July 8, 2026, at 12:14 PM, Society A planned unscheduled inspection has been appointed following the incident on the Nizhny Novgorod cable car. As reported by the official representative of Rostekhnadzor, Andrey Vil, the inspection regarding the operating organization LLC "UrbanTech Service" was approved immediately. Inspectors from the Volga-Oka management began their work right after receiving information about the incident.
"It is premature to provide any other information," he noted.
Recall that on the evening of July 5, the cable car movement was halted due to strong winds. Several cabins were suspended over the Volga. Inside were 16 people, including four children. Rescuers evacuated all passengers. The Investigative Committee also organized an inspection regarding the incident, and the circumstances are being studied by the prosecutor's office. The operation of the ferry will resume after all necessary inspections are conducted and the full safety of operation is confirmed. Passengers are advised to use suburban buses and electric trains, and transport services have been increased. During the downtime, the validity of travel tickets will be extended.
