Mass death of bees recorded in the Shatkovsky district
On July 8, 2026, 13:25 Incidents A mass die-off of bees has been recorded in the Shatkovsky district in July. This was reported by the Telegram channel Ni Mash. Local beekeepers stated that at the beginning of July, chemical treatment of agricultural fields near the villages of Veliky Vrag, Kostianka, Bohdanivka, and Krapivka was conducted. They suspect that the insects may have been poisoned during this work. However, the exact date and time of the treatment are unknown to them. According to one of the beekeepers, the work could have been carried out on July 4 or a few days earlier. He noted that if the treatment had been done at night, the consequences could likely have been avoided; however, the spraying was allegedly conducted during the day. Beekeepers report that cases of die-off have been registered at apiaries in Bohdanivka, Kostianka, Veliky Vrag, and Veckusov. According to them, bees have been dying for several days now. The insects are weakening, crawling near the hives, while other bees are carrying dead individuals out of the nests. The exact causes of the die-off have not yet been established. Beekeepers are preparing a collective appeal to the local veterinary station requesting an inspection and to determine the circumstances of the incident. Earlier, we reported that the shooting of foxes was allowed in another district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
