The XXVIII Conference of the regional branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) took place in Nizhny Novgorod on July 4, 2026. This was reported by the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the party. The key issue on the agenda was the nomination of a team of candidates for the upcoming elections of deputies to the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region of the VIII convocation. "In accordance with party tradition, the work of the Conference began with a solemn and significant event — the acceptance of new comrades into the party. The ideas of social justice and the 'Victory of the CPRF' program are finding an increasingly wide response among the residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region," noted the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the CPRF. Following a secret ballot, the conference participants approved the regional part of the list of candidates for deputies of the Legislative Assembly. The top five included current deputies and leaders of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the CPRF: 1. Vladislav Egorov — Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the VIII convocation, first secretary of the Committee of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the CPRF, headed the list. 2. Roman Kabeshev — head of the CPRF faction in the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, secretary of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the CPRF. 3. Lyudmila Burkova — Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region from the CPRF party. 4. Alexander Chernigin — Deputy head of the CPRF faction in the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, secretary of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the CPRF. 5. Oleg Kiritsa — Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region from the CPRF faction. The party noted that the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the CPRF demonstrated high organizational readiness, nominating its representatives in all 25 single-member electoral districts and forming candidate lists for all 25 regional (territorial) groups. The candidates from the CPRF included workers, representatives of the scientific community, education and healthcare sectors, trade union activists, and public figures. "The CPRF team is going into these elections with a clear, well-developed program for the socio-economic development of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Our goal is a strong, just region where the budget works for the people. We have formed a team of professionals in each electoral district and are ready to fight for victory!" — emphasized the leadership of the regional branch.
