More than 5,000 Nizhny Novgorod families have improved their housing with the help of maternity capital.

      More than 5,000 families in the Nizhny Novgorod region have used maternity capital to improve their housing conditions since the beginning of 2026. This direction remains one of the most sought-after ways to utilize state support in the region.

      As reported by the Social Fund of Russia's Nizhny Novgorod branch, 5,320 certificates were issued to parents in the first six months of the year. The document is generated automatically based on information about the child's birth, so it is usually not necessary to submit a separate application for its receipt.

      Maternity capital can be used for housing improvement immediately after the certificate is issued. Families have the right to allocate the funds for a down payment when purchasing or building housing, as well as for repaying a housing loan.

      After the child reaches the age of three, the funds can also be used for other purposes provided by law. These include children's education, forming a funded pension, and other state-established goals.

      Residents of Nizhny Novgorod can submit an application for the disposal of maternity capital through the "Gosuslugi" portal, the client service of the Social Fund, or the Multifunctional Center (MFC). When using the funds for a down payment, they can also contact the bank that issues the housing loan.

      Specialists review the application within five working days. The decision will be sent to the personal account on "Gosuslugi," and citizens without an account on the portal will receive a notification by regular mail.
