Nizhny Novgorod's "Torpedo" has signed a contract with American Scooter Bricky.
Nizhny Novgorod's "Torpedo" has strengthened its defense line by signing a one-year contract with American defenseman Scooter Brickey. This was reported by the club's press service.
The 27-year-old native of Michigan has impressive dimensions—standing at 193 cm tall and weighing 97 kg. Throughout his career, Brickey has established himself as a defenseman primarily focused on defensive tasks. His strengths include physical battles, puck interceptions, and shot blocking.
At the same time, the club notes that despite his physical attributes, the player possesses good coordination and agility. In addition to reliable defensive play, he is capable of joining attacks and contributing during power plays.
In the past season, Brickey played for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, with whom he reached the semifinals of the American Hockey League playoffs, where the Calder Cup is contested.
According to Torpedo's general director Evgeny Zabuga, Scooter Brickey's name is still little known to Russian fans, but the club is confident that the newcomer will be able to benefit the team.
"Torpedo has the status of an organization that opens new names for the KHL every season, and we hope that Scooter will take a worthy place in the club's roster," Zabuga noted.
He added that in the current geopolitical situation, the decision of a foreign hockey player who has not previously played in Russia to come to the KHL deserves respect.
Earlier, the general director revealed when the long-awaited move of "Torpedo" to the new arena will take place. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
