A criminal case has been opened against a drunken repeat offender driver in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On July 3, 2026, at 11:31, Incidents A criminal case has been initiated against a 60-year-old local resident who was caught driving a vehicle while intoxicated in the Lukoyanovsky district. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. In mid-May, law enforcement officers found a man showing signs of intoxication behind the wheel of a "VAZ 21040" car near one of the houses on Pushkin Street in Lukoyanov. It was established that he had previously been held administratively liable for driving a vehicle while intoxicated. A criminal case has been initiated under part 1 of Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle while intoxicated by a person who has been subjected to administrative punishment or has a criminal record). The offender faces a penalty of up to two years in prison. The vehicle has been placed in a specialized parking lot.
